Valor Studio
An AI planning platform for film and television, developed for Valor Studio. It turns scripts into shooting plans and helps production teams work through complex schedules and changing circumstances.
Overview
A screenplay describes what happens on screen. Turning it into a shoot means bringing together people, places, time and a long list of practical constraints. A location becoming unavailable or a change to a cast member’s schedule can affect far more than one scene.
We developed this platform for our client, Valor Studio, to bring script breakdown, AI-assisted scheduling and day-to-day production planning into one product. It helps film and television teams turn creative material into a plan they can work with.
The challenge was to make that complexity manageable. The product helps a team understand its options, recognise problems and respond to changes while keeping the production’s wider needs in view. Experienced planners stay in control of the decisions.
What the product makes possible
Turn a script into a planning foundation
Bring a screenplay into the workspace and organise its scenes, cast and locations into a structured breakdown. The team can review the material and use it as the starting point for planning the production.
Build a workable shooting plan
AI-assisted planning helps arrange the shoot around the production’s requirements. A visual schedule gives the team a practical way to review the plan, adjust it and see how the work comes together across shooting days.
See where the plan needs attention
Surface scheduling conflicts and explore changes before committing to them. When circumstances shift, the product helps planners work through the implications and decide how to move forward with the production.
Work with the plan in plain language
Valor IQ connects natural-language requests to the planning workspace. Teams can ask about a scene or shooting day, explore options and review proposed changes against the schedule.
Valor IQ
The first generated schedule is a starting point. Valor IQ is the interactive planning panel that helps the team develop it into a workable shoot. Alongside the visual schedule, it brings together conflicts, scenes still to be placed, planning insights and a history of changes. The planner can move between understanding an issue and working through a solution in the same workspace.
Natural language is part of that experience. A planner can ask what could fit into a gap, where a particular scene could move, or what is scheduled for a shooting day. Responses can include structured scene details and placement options with relevant warnings, giving the team something to inspect and act on. Selecting a scene brings its context into the request, so the conversation stays connected to the work on the board.
Proposed changes are presented for review before they are applied. The planner can compare options, ask a follow-up question and confirm a move or placement, then see the result in the schedule. A record of changes and the ability to revert supported edits help the team keep control as the plan evolves. AI assistance becomes part of the day-to-day planning process, from investigating a conflict to deciding what happens next.
Built around the reality of production
Consider a scene that needs a particular cast member, a specific location and the right shooting conditions. Finding a slot for it is only part of the problem. The choice also affects what else the team can shoot that day and what needs to move elsewhere. Those connected decisions are what make production planning such a demanding product to build.
Valor Studio brings that planning work into a shared visual workspace, from the first script breakdown to the revisions that follow. Our work connected AI assistance with the practical tools a production team needs to inspect, question and shape its plan. The result is a specialist software product built around a complex professional workflow.
